They have such an interesting dynamic already. Now, I honestly can’t wait to see more of them together before their spinoff. When it was announced that there would be yet another The Walking Dead spinoff, this time featuring Negan and Maggie (Lauren Cohan), of all pairs, called Isle of the Dead, I was a little nervous to see how these two would interact in the show. (Image credit: AMC) For More Intense Negan And Maggie Interactions I come to The Walking Dead for zombie killing and crazy villains with interesting morals and now, Hornsby is beginning to step more into that direction, and I can’t wait for him to finally show his true colors. That’s some unhinged behavior, just leaving someone’s life up to fate, and that’s something that I really want to see. But, at the end of the latest episode, you could see the cracks breaking in his perfect demeanor, especially with how he leaves the fate of Oceanside up in the air by flipping a coin. The only difference is that, as of now, he isn’t as brutal and doesn’t have his dead daughter on a chain. He literally is a government official in a town that has crooked ways. And, how the latest villain in the show, Lance Hornsby (Josh Hamilton), seems to be heading in that direction.Īt first, he felt like an off-brand version of The Governor. While no one is ever going to match the strengths of Negan, in my personal opinion, another one that I often think about is The Governor (David Morrissey), from both Seasons 3 and 4 of The Walking Dead. ![]() The Walking Dead has had some great villains - and some pretty bad ones, too. That melody will get stuck in your head for days.(Image credit: AMC) For Hornsby To Finally Show His True Colors The soundtrack is decent, albeit somewhat forgettable with the exception of the tune that plays whenever you discover a memento. Some of the performances are good, like David Shaughnessy’s portrayal of sweet Morris Lupton, but many others are downright cringeworthy. The voice acting on the other hand is another matter. There are neat details with the sound effects when you’re zooming in and out, such as soft textures sounding squishy and liquids having bubbling and gurgling sounds. Which leads me to I Am Dead‘s sound design. The character designs suffer from this as well, so they have to rely on the vocal performances to sell the emotion being conveyed. It’s hard to find what you’re looking for in a sea of nondescript shapes. I understand that they weren’t going for realism, but the rudimentary graphics make many of the objects look like colorful blobs. I Am Dead is not a good looking game by any means. Whitstable provides the only real challenge in I Am Dead, in the form of Riddles.įinding the objects can be difficult at times, not necessarily because they’re well hidden, but rather that it’s not always clear what you’re looking at. ![]() Each person’s special memento is hidden somewhere in the small section they occupy, so there isn’t much of a challenge there. You’ll have to click on various objects to inspect them, then zoom in and out to use Morris’s X-ray ability to see through them and hopefully find the missing item. Morris has a special ability in death that allows him to “slice” through objects to see through their layers. This is where the bulk of the gameplay comes in. As I mentioned earlier, you’ll have to find mementos that have have special meaning to those whose memories you’ve seen. Most of them are surface-level fluff though.Īlthough, I Am Dead isn’t only about listening to people’s memories. ![]() They’re not all fascinating glimpses into real-world issues, but enough of them were to give I Am Dead a measure of insightful depth. The memories also touch on a surprising amount of deeper themes, such as regret, misunderstanding, animal rights, and loss. I Am Dead captures the feel of a small seaside town very well, with many of the denizens connecting to one another in some way. Still, hearing the memories about the deceased and the island itself do make the fictional town of Shelmerston feel more genuine. Sparky can herd the spirit’s essence and bind it them, bringing about their corporeal body.
